Molecular Topology
Molecular topology can be applied through graph theory and statistics in chemistry, biology and pharmacology. The goal is the topological characterization of molecules by means of invariants, called topological indices, which are the molecular descriptors to correlate with the experimental properties. The approach can be used either in naturally occurring chemical compounds or in the design of synthetic molecules with specific chemical, biological, or pharmacological properties in a tailor-made way.
